How long will it take to do the course?

Depending on your skill level, this course could take anything from 2 months to 2 years to complete. I start out with the basic fundamentals and by the end you are presented with some quite advance concepts.

I've have done this course over 2 semesters (1 year) as a part of a university curriculum so it will show you how to take your skills to a high level.

If you know how to play a Paradiddle, then there’s a whole new world of musical creativity both there for you! By taking the single paradiddle and using its inversions, you can literally come up with limitless combinations of grooves and variations on the drumset.

COURSE CURRICULUM

Module 1 - Understanding the Inversions

Learn all of the inversions, how they work, and what part of the beat each inversion has its accents on. This will keep you on your toes and sound the foundations for the rest of the course.

8 LESSONS

Module 2 - Adding the Bass Drum and Cymbals

Let's get on the kit with the inversions and put the accents around the drums and cymbals. Don't forget to use your metronome and to keep counting so that you don't loose your place. This will also be a great challenge for your independence with the hi hat play consistently throughout.

4 LESSONS

Module 3 - Let's Get Grooving!

Time to get Grooving! Here we will learn how to voice and use the different inversions for grooves on the kit. We'll also learn about 'Rudi-Funk', to get our dynamics and tones set up for the best grooves.

10 LESSONS

Module 4 - Rudi-Funk: Alternative Voicings

Now that you're comfortable with the inversions in grooves, it's time to look at different Rudi-Funk voices to give you even more variations and options for your new grooves.

Module 5 - 'All In' Combinations

OK, things just go serious. Here we will look at all of the possible combinations of the inversions to give you the skills to chop and change between them at will.

Module 6 - Bass Drum & Cymbal Combinations

With all of the combinations sorted, now we will look at putting them on the bass drum and cymbals. A great module to really build your skills with the inversions. This will keep you on your toes!

Module 7 - The Coolest of Grooves!

Get ready for the cooleset of grooves! Here we will be looking at all of our inversion combinations to Rudi-Funk them and mix with other grooves. You will get so many groove ideas out of this section it's crazy!

Module 8 - Funky Jam Play Along

Game time! It's now time to put all of these exercises into practice. I've put together a special play along track for you to be creative with and look at how you can apply your new found skills with the paradiddle inversions. This is fun!

Module 9 - How to Sound Like a Latin Genius!

OK, I know this isn't a Latin drumming course, but the Latin grooves you can with the inversions are serious. Here we are going to use the inversions for: Bossa Nova, Samba & Songo. These are too much fun so buckle up and enjoy the ride!

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the inversions and what I’m going to need to learn and execute inside this course. Are you sure I can do this?

I’ll be totally up front with you. YES, there’s a significant amount of things I’m going to ask you to learn inside my PARADIDDLE INVERSIONS Course.

YES, it’ll probably get a little challenging at times. YES, you’ll have moments when you might curse my name out loud and scare your neighbours or pets (I forgive you in advance).

But here’s the thing… As long as you’re willing to invest a few hours every week, you can absolutely do this. You’ve probably recognized by now that there’s NOTHING to be achieved in this world without a significant amount of effort. If you’re reading this, I’m sure you actually want to put in the effort. You just want to make absolutely sure that every amount of effort you invest in learning the course will move you closer to the end result of being a better drummer.

Will I need to purchase a whole bunch of fancy tech tools and equipment to make this work?

No! You will need drum sticks and a drum pad (or you can play on the top of a table or anything really) and a basic drumset. A metronome is highly recommended and there are many free apps that are available. You will also need an internet connection to stream the lessons.

I’m fairly new to the inversions. Is this going to be too advanced for me?

It depends. Some of my best students came into my course just beginning their drumming journey.

I’ve also had longtime “veterans” use my course to FINALLY create an understanding and solid foundation of the paradiddle inversions. Consistency and perseverance are really the only common denominators between all my successful students.
